The Hype is real.
What’s this? I’m posting for once?
Tumblr is forcing the image to rotate, my apologies for that ._.

Okay, in short, I loved the series. Did it have it’s fair share of problems? Yes. Did it stray a bit too far from the source material at times? Of course, it’s an anime adaptation, it took liberties now and again. But what it all boils down to is, at the end of the day, would I be willing to watch it again? Yes (I plan on comparing the English dub to the original subbed).
My only issue is…well, the ending. I don’t know how I feel about it. Part of me got the vibe that it was rushed, and If that’s the case, so be it. I can’t take fault with the series if production had to meet a deadline (it’s a 52 episode series).
The other reason I’m unsure is, to put it simply, I’m not sure if I liked the happy ending. For those who’ve seen it (and I won’t spoil it on here), you know which cop-out I’m referring to. Part of me felt that would’ve left a stronger impact on me rather than what we got. Just seemed forced, but that could just be me.
On the other hand, I liked the ending. I know, I just contradicted the last 2 paragraphs, but I don’t know, sometimes you want the generic, happy-go-lucky ending for the characters you’ve grown emotionally attached to. I am sad though that after a montage, we say goodbye to them. One last note on the ending, and this is both a plus and an issue, it sort of is open ended. I won’t explain what happens, but the ending sort of hints that it COULD make a return…but we all know that won’t happen. And for that reason alone, I’m sad.
OKAY! So, overall thoughts? I thoroughly enjoyed this series, more so than I would’ve thought going into it. I admit, I was judging the series soley on the basis of being a “Magical Girl” anime, something I’ve never been all too fond of. But the characters are enjoyable, the art style and animation is eye-catching, and the action, while not a majority of the screen time, is still very much present.
If you haven’t seen it now, I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a short series to hold you over. I wish we could see some sort of follow up, but in the meantime, I’m off to read the, “Powerpuff Girls Doujinshi” I’ve heard so much about. Later!
